Lake Granbury Medical Center has been officially designated as a Primary Level III Stroke Center by the Texas Department of State Health Services. This recognition confirms that expert, life-saving stroke care is now available right here in Granbury — minutes away from home for residents across Hood County and nearby communities.

As part of World Stroke Awareness Day on October 29, the hospital released a new video featuring Cara Hartley, RN, Stroke and Chest Pain Coordinator at Lake Granbury Medical Center. Cara explains why every second counts when it comes to recognizing and treating a stroke, and how local access to advanced stroke care can make all the difference in recovery outcomes.

“When it comes to a stroke, time lost is brain lost,” said Hartley. “Having a Primary Stroke Center here in Granbury means patients no longer have to be transported long distances to receive critical care. We’re saving valuable time — and saving lives.”

The new designation means the hospital meets strict state and national standards for stroke care, including diagnostic imaging, specialized stroke teams, and 24/7 readiness to treat strokes.

Residents in Granbury, Glen Rose, Tolar, Stephenville, Cresson, Pecan Plantation, and DeCordova, Texas have local access to stroke treatment and coordinated care in an emergency.
